We feel continuing education is extremely important and find most extension courses to be quick, cheap and easy to learn. We have found attending a higher end more elaborate training has given us the proper education to be able to bring the same type of experience to our clients. Color Services
Each colorist at Lulu & Lo has been thoroughly trained under some of the top educators in the Twin Cities. Consider us experts in nailing a dream color that compliments your skin tone and enhances your natural beauty, from bright blond to a melty, dimensional brunette. No two heads of hair are alike, which is why we believe that consultations are key for understanding your goals and establishing a coloring technique that’s best suited for you:
Babylights: Perfect for those looking for that all-over bright, blonde look, babylights is a technique using small sections of hair to create a very subtle highlight for an overall lighter, brighter blonde. (Humble brag: The colorists at Lulu & Lo have been using this technique far before it was a trend!)
Balayage: Coveting that sun-kissed, natural look? Balayage— French for “sweep”—uses a color brush to hand paint the bleach using a sweeping motion onto a section of hair to create that lived-in look. It’s important to note that the strands of hair will gradually go from dark to light—the darkest being near the scalp and the brightest at the ends.
All over color: Ideal for those in-need of maximum color coverage (goodbye, grays!) or wanting to drastically change a natural color (like all over darker or lighter from root to ends).
Deeper root and intentional dimension: A Lulu & Lo fave! This is a technique that starts with foils to lift a natural color to a lighter shade. After shampooing, we then apply a root shadow to take away any harsh lines, leaving you with a seamless and natural grow out.
Face-framing color: An easy, subtle way to change up and brighten any look. Similar to balayage, our colorists create this by using foils or hand-painting brighter pieces around the face. Consider this natural color enhancement the perfect “pop.”
Foiling with a purpose: We lean on this methodology when it comes to a lot of our naturally-bright babes, allowing us to give them the blonde they desire while also leaning into and incorporating natural color to create dimension—and keep hair healthy!
